Brains, booze and big problems for teens

Today has mostly been about assisting in the comprehension of an article about the effects of binge-drinking on the developing adolescent brain.

Who knew that the human brain continued to develop into the 20s and early 30s? Binging causes the white and grey matter, needed for behavioral and decision making, to lose their way a little; et voilà, irreversible damage - picture stumbling home after a few too many, kebab in hand, a bit of hedge surfing and your best top covered in garlic and chili sauce. Doesn't come out in the wash.

Knocking back the hard stuff at an early age seems to be pretty much the worst thing you can do as a teenager, or even pre-teen (ok, that's just a bit worrying). The younger you binge, the higher the chances of becoming alco-dependant. No big warnings about binge drinking when I was young, lots of drugs talk "just say no", AIDs frightened the life out of us all but alcohol was only slightly frowned upon.

Anyway, pleasant morning had *takes a beer from the fridge*
